 
Welcome to Millstream Miniature Llamas. We have been raising standard size llamas since 1993 and we are very excited about our venture into miniature llamas. These first photos show us with our herd sires - illustrating how much more "manageable" minis are compared to standard size llamas.

We are the first, and as far as we know the ONLY, farm in Canada to focus on the miniature llamas. Our miniatures are all International Llama Registry (ILR) registered and most are American Miniature Llama Association (AMLA) registered.

Millstream Llama Farm is part of what was once a much larger farm first established in the early 1900's. The present farm sits in a hiddden valley formed by limestone erosion. A small farmhouse was built in the mid 1960's and the property used as a hobby farm, raising a few sheep, cattle, pigs etc.
Millstream enters the Llama Farm through a rock tunnel, and creates a secluded and picturesque pool surrounded by tall trees. The stream forms the entire south boundary of the farm, and includes a 20-ft. waterfall. Children like to fish for small trout in the numerous side pools. In 2003 the local Goldstream Hatchery helped build a new fish ladder at the " Llama Falls ". Hatchery personnel monitoring the creek confirm that salmon have now been seen in "our" section of the creek, upstream of the fish ladder .
We bought the property in 1994 and radically enlarged and renovated the old house. All the fencing, barns and animal shelters were also replaced. We started a bed & breakfast operation in 2001 and finally retired from that business in 2010 in order to concentrate on breeding miniature llamas.

FARM TOURS & FARM STORE
We offer a guided tour of the farm for those who would like to meet the herd and know a little more about the llamas. The tour will include:
- Explanation of why we feel that llamas are special
- The general history of llamas in North and South America
- How llamas interact with people and with each other
- Discussion of the uses of llamas today
- Meet several of our llamas; experience a "llama kiss" and feel the fibre
You can be sure that there will be numerous photo opportunities during the tour.
Please telephone in advance to arrange a tour. We charge $5 per person. After the tour you will have the opportunity to visit our small farm store, where a selection of llama-related products is available for purchase, including products made from our very own llama fibre. Llama fibre can range from short to long, coarse (good for bags, rugs, felting and ropes) to extremely fine (wonderful for sweaters, hats and scarves). Other products are made in Peru and Bolivia.

Try our llama bean "tea". A $4 bag of ground, sterlized beans will make 20 gallons of "tea" for your plants - indoor or outdoor.
